Melville’s Golf Course is one of the oldest golf courses in Saskatchewan, dating back to the beginning of the last century. For most of its existence it has had sand greens, but all 18 holes were made into grass greens by 1984. A creek slices down the centre of the course and is in play on most of its holes, crossing the fairway in the majority of cases. The fairways are generally open and quite rolling. They are of average width and are usually forgiving, except on holes 10 through 14. On these holes an out of bounds on the right-hand side makes them play quite narrow. The O/B is one of the primary reasons Melville’s 13th hole is considered its most difficult. Your landing zone off the tee is tightly controlled by the O/B and a gathering of trees on the left. The green is also an elusive target due to more trees, its small size, and the continuation of the O/B. For a relatively short course (6120 yards) Melville is well known as requiring shots that are precise. Well placed greens, O/B and crescent creek cutting through 8 holes makes this course more difficult than first perceived. This course rarely gives up a par round!! Come and give it a try!
