Even if you’re a seasoned veteran, there are times when you wish a power bigger than you could guide your hands through a stroke. All jokes aside, though, proper alignment is a key element of golf, and even though everyone understands this, you’ll still see plenty of golfers, especially amateurs, who could use a little bit of help in this regard. For this reason, we decided to shortlist some of the tools you should check out in this best alignment tools for golf review.

Why do Problems with Alignment Occur?

Well, painting it with a broad brush, there are two main reasons for it – either you’ve altered your stance and position at address in a bid to compensate some other fault in your stroke, or you’ve fallen into a bad habit of not checking your alignment. Alternatively, you’ve never been taught how to align properly, though this is extremely rare.

Short of taking lessons and asking for tips, you could get one or several golf training aids to help you sort things out. Think of them as the golf version of training wheels, if you will – you use them for as long as you need them, and once you’ve mastered your stroke, be it putting, chipping, driving (you know the drill), you simply set them aside. That said, some of these aids, such as alignment sticks, remain in many a PGA pro’s bag until the end of their career.

On that note, carrying alignment sticks during a round is of itself not a breach of rules, but under no circumstances are you allowed to actually use it (rule 14-3), at least as tournaments go. Whatever you do during a round with friends is up to you and your friends, of course.

Conclusion

Admittedly, when we started this piece, the word “shortlisted” was used, and 15 items don’t exactly constitute a short list. Still, considering the variety, it can all be boiled down to only a few – indoor putting greens, tracks and trainers, alignment sticks (a major point), and a few odds and ends that don’t really belong to any broader category. Whichever way you decide to go about it, we hope this list has helped you make a decision. Fairways and greens!
