Virtual golf facilities in Minnesota

Situated in the northwest corner of the United States, Minnesota has long been a sports lover's haven. From football to hockey to basketball, the North Star State offers facilities and training centers for all kinds of sports, and golf is no exception. The state is home to more than 500 golf courses, majority of them open to the general public. As more than 733,000 residents play the sport, according to a 2004 NGF survey, Minnesota is also notable for hosting the 2016 Ryder Cup and the PGA Championships in 2002, 2008, 2009.

More than that, a major factor in Minnesota’s appeal as a golf destination is its naturally diverse landscape. Boasting valleys, prairies, towering cliffs and bluffs, rock formations along the coastline, and thousands of lakes and other water features, it’s a prime location for some truly exciting and challenging championship courses set amidst breathtaking scenery. Among the state’s finest showpieces are Donald Ross’ White Bear Yacht Club, Robert Trent Jones and Rees Jones’ Hazeltine National, Tom Fazio’s Spring Hill, and A.W. Tilinghast’s Golden Valley and Rochester Country Club.

Golf season in Minnesota tends to be during the spring months of April and May, where days are pleasantly sunny and flora is flourishing, or during Fall - sometime between September and November, which is characterized by cool breezes and cloudy skies. However, good weather tends to be fleeting here, as the state is known for its oftentimes unpredictable weather. The 80-degree temperatures of summer may come early, or the harsh chilly winter weather may last longer than expected. Whatever the case, golfers have the perfect alternative for such occasions: virtual indoor golf.

Found all over the state are plenty of first-rate indoor facilities and virtual golf simulators, equipped with the latest and most advanced simulator technology to provide players with a detailed, realistic experience of playing some of the most famous courses in the world. Below is a list of some of the finest virtual indoor golf facilities in the state of Minnesota.

Virtual Indoor Golf Facilities in Minnesota

Location: 16514 W 78th St., Eden Prairie, MN 55346

Kicking off our list is an indoor golf facility hailing from the suburbs of Eden Prairie: Inside Edge Golf. Strategically placed along the major highways and only a 23-minute drive from the city of Minneapolis, Inside Edge Golf specializes in both recreational sports and professional training. With its state-of-the-art simulators, over 77 of the most coveted courses from all over the world are faithfully rendered in ultra-realistic 3D graphics. Among its most popular choices are classics like Pebble Beach and St. Andrews, and beauties like the Bay Harbor and Wildstone, as well as the state's very own Hazeltine Course.

They have a total of nine golf simulators and hitting bays, each with their own high-definition TV, as well as 3 different kinds of simulators. Aside from the classic, they also offer SimSurround, with three accompanying screens, and the expansive, fully immersive Curve simulator, both of which are set in their very own private rooms. All their simulators are endorsed by the PGA Tour and are programmed with the latest software to deliver the most accurate swing diagnostics. The 3Trak technology assesses ball spin rates, clubhead movement, and numerous other essential data points. The simulators also offer many other practice range options, aside from the usual 18-hole virtual course.

Other amenities provided by Inside Edge Golf include parking space, free wifi, club rentals (even for left-handed, lady, and junior golfers), and an on-site casual diner named The Kitchen which offers hand-crafted pizza, hot dogs, croissants, sausages, beer, soda, coffee and more.

They also have several golf leagues that you can sign up for. There are also event spaces that can be rented out for special occasions and numerous gift cards and specials available for senior golfers, junior golfers, and early birds. With that said, it comes as no surprise that Inside Edge Golf was voted Best Local Indoor Golf by TwinCitiesGolf.com and Best of Minnesota for Indoor Golf by WCCO.
