Brewster’s Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course Review

We only had time to golf the back nine of this course, but it was amazing. The first hole on the back nine is the only par 3 on the back nine. Normally I don’t like starting my round with a par 3, but this definitly put me in the right mindset of how the course had to be played. It is a longer par 3 at 202 yards, that is tree lined on either side. Hole 11 is the only par 5 on the back nine, but it is a big dogleg that needs to be laid up on unless you are a big gambler…or tiger woods, which I am not. The theme of playing a conservative lay up shot that was in the middle of the fairway was the theme for the round. Almost every hole was narrow with thick trees lining each side. This meant an easy lay up shot and a little longer chip on was your best strategy for the round. You are able to pull out the driver on a few holes, but make sure you are hitting it straight on that day or it will be a goner.

I’d recommend to make sure you bring a few extra balls, but if you play this course the way it is intended, you shouldn’t need any. Plus, we were able to find a tonne of balls along the way, not to mention the half dozen my playing partner left out there for you to find.

The course itself was in good condition. There were a few dry patches on the fairways and a few sandy patches on the greens, but they recently received a lot of rain and not much sun following it. These conditions should change favorably in the next couple weeks.

This course was the lower priced of all the courses in the area which was nice. This allows anyone to get out and try golfing in the mountains. If you are a beginner golfer, you may find it hard to cough up over $100 to play a round of frustrating golf, but this course comes in much lower than that. As can be seen in the picture above and on their page here on GolfThis, the mountains are an amazing backdrop for your round of golf. The views are amazing and it makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable round.
